Why register your cattle with RGI?

   

     Registering your cattle with RGI has many advantages.  The most obvious of these is a DNA verified pedigree of your animals.  Competing in futurities or not, breeders want to know as much as they can about the animals they own.  It is an advantage in several ways.  It can help a breeder uncover producing sires and dams in his herd which could have otherwise slipped through the cracks.  Also, the value of animals can be significantly increased by having a DNA verified pedigree to supply to a prospective buyer, because let's face it we all want to know what we are getting for our money.   DNA verification also helps a breeder track the production of a specific bull or cow and its individual offspring. 

     One of the best reasons to register your cattle with RGI… It's affordable!  Our prices have been set with the breeder in mind.  We hope to help draw more people into the industry and help our members save as much money as possible.  Saving money means more left for feed and entry fees to events!  We also realize that not all breeders raise bulls to haul to futurities.  Some raise them strictly to sell to other breeders or contractors.  For this group, we are here to verify the pedigrees of your cattle in order to make them more marketable.

     RGI is a stand-alone registry… which means that we are independent and not affiliated with any one specific event association.  We feel that this allows us more time to focus on member benefits and future goals such as creating programs and incentives for our members.

     Protecting the integrity of your cattle is very important to RGI.  Our concern is not only preserving the lineage of your cattle but the performance as well.  We have certain rules in place to keep members from losing track of cattle they have raised.  For example, a name change of a registered animal must be approved by the original breeder of that animal.  This means if an animal's name is changed, the breeder will know about it!
